2008 Early voting in Louisiana is over! (It was Tuesday, Nov. 18th to Tuesday, Nov. 25th)

Greens around the country have been focused on ways to help the people of New Orleans since right after Hurricane Katrina struck. There was a list-serve initiated to coordinate donations and efforts, and some greens traveled to Louisiana to help. The Green Party cares about the people of New Orleans. We want them to have the comfort and safety they need, and also their right to vote. So, no matter who your candidate is, or what party you are from, hope that if you are from Louisiana, you find the voter information and dates helpful.

Though, if you happen to hail from the 2nd Congressional District in Louisiana, we would be delighted if you would vote for Malik Rahim for Congress.  Malik is the only Green Party person in the race. The other candidates are: the incumbent Democrat who is facing federal corruption charges; a Republican; and a Libertarian. Word has it that the Independent has declined to run, though, some reports still list him. Besides being good on the issues, believing in peace, and demanding Category 5 federal flood protection, Malik also served the area by helping form the group Common Ground Collective. Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney says: “With Malik in Washington, our own internally displaced population can finally see justice–and not just abundant hot air–delivered from the halls of the U.S. Capitol. We need Malik now and now Malik needs us.”
