CANCELLED: Bob Westcott’s Holiday Revue 12/20/08

BOB WESTCOTTCANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER: To celebrate the Holiday season, our favorite legendary guitarist and singer-songwriter, Bob Westcott, brings his annual revue of talented performers to Huntington. He will treat us with a couple of well roasted chestnuts, and then present his showcase of three of the most talented and exciting performers and groups in the Huntington area. !!!

DAVID BAILEYThis years’ lineup features:

DAVID BAILEY — David is a talented, up and coming, Long Island singer-songwriter. He’s an active member of the Island Songwriter Showcase (ISS), a Long Island-based volunteer organization of songwriters, lyricists, producers, engineers, performers, and DJ’s. David has been a featured performer at several local venues, and he has played open mikes across Long Island, including many FMSH open mikes. He recently shared the bill at our Hard Luck Café and performed to great acclaim. He has just released his first CD.

PRINCESS PEAPOD — The lively acoustic duo, Princess Peapod, features the rich linen-textured vocals of Michele Frimmer, with the inventive harmonies and multi-layered guitar style of Dave Cook. Princess Peapod combines a fresh lyrical approach with just the right amount of crunch and groove to make for third-millennium folk at its best. Princess Peapod’s imaginative, often reflective, sometimes quirky songwriting has a universal appeal, reaching out to a diverse audience. With their feet on the ground and heads in the clouds, Dave and Michele’s candid performances are joyful expressions of the moment.

RETURN TO THE DREAMRETURN TO THE DREAM — Return to the Dream is an alternative acoustic band that draws on folk, pop, rock, blues, and bluegrass influences to create our original music. Tight vocal harmonies and a tasty array of acoustic instruments give Return to the Dream its unique “eclectic acoustic” sound. Each member of RTTD is a seasoned performer in his or her own right, but have come together to create a cohesive and unique “Eclectic Acoustic” sound with their original music. They appeared on our stage last year with the nom de plume of “The Well” and energized our audience with a rousing mix of bluegrass-tinged folk to blues to jazz, with four-part vocals and some mighty fine playing. The group are Diane Garisto, Tom Griffith, Martha Trachtenberg and Andy Huenerberg.

  • Martha does lead and background vocals, guitar, mandolin; she was a founding member of the Buffalo Gals, the first all-woman bluegrass band.
  • Tom does lead and background vocals, playing lead guitar and dulcimer; recently he’s produced and written songs.
  • Diane does lead and background vocals, guitar, dulcimer, strumstick; in a much varied career, Diane has toured as a vocalist with major recording artists.
  • Andy does lead and background vocals and plays the bass; Andy is a much in demand bass player who has been in the biz one way or another since the age of 11.

They say “We call ourselves Return to the Dream because that’s exactly what we’ve done: we’ve gone back to doing the thing we love most – in our case, making music”.
