Results from 3/3/09 Illinois Congressional primary

Update: Matt Reichel is declared the winner in the Green Party primary. As of 3/4/2009.

This is in regards to the 5th Congressional District Special Election in Illinois. It is a Chicago area race to fill the seat recently vacated by Rahm Emanuel.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting overall totals, with 98% reporting: here. The Chicago Tribune has called the winner of the Democratic primary as Mike Quigley, and the Republican primary as Rosanna Pulido. (Pulido is the head of the Illinois Minute Men, an immigrant hate group who patrol the US borders.)

The following are the updates from the Chicago Tribune with 98% of precincts reporting:

Democratic Primary:
Mike Quigley is the winner

Republican Primary:
Rosanna Pulido is the winner

Green Party Primary:
Mathew Reichel has 34%, which is 164 votes
Deb Gordils has 32%, which is 154 votes
Mark Frederickson has 14%
Alan Auguston has 13% (He had withdrawn, but was on the ballot)
Simon Ribeiro has 7%

So far, it appears that the Democrat and Republican race will be “easy”. In both, the leader has a more than 4% lead on next candidate down. That would be Democrat – Mike Quigley and Republican – Rosanna Pulido.

For the Green Party, it is closer, so the winner is more likely to change with final results. Matt Reichel has 34.72% and Deb Gordils has 31.94%.
