Video of the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Limerick, Ireland: It was green and Green!

The video is at the Limerick Blogger: here.

I did a shout out to our sister blog in Limerick. And, what a wonderful surprise I received.

For 2009, the theme of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Limerick was “Go Green.” It is worth jumping to the hour long google video and at least scanning for some of the interesting sights. I found tumblers in the middle, and a group of young women who were asking for “Liberation through Fair Trade.” The MC also referred to Fair Trade as “Green Trade.”

Background on how we stumbled (or, tumbled) across all this:

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Today, onthewilderside celebrates Cynthia McKinney’s birthday, and St. Patrick’s Day.

In seeking an Irish connection to our world of mostly New York and United States politics and culture, the best idea we came up with is The Limerick Blogger. We made friends with them during the Malachy for Governor campaign.

It’s a neat web-site, building community, and reporting on news, events and politics in the quintessentially Irish city of Limerick. If you want to see some interesting photos of Ireland, and see what Irish people are really up to, you could check it out.

Here’s a link and a blurb:

The Limerick Blogger

Limerick City, known internationally for poetry and sport, is the capital of Ireland’s Mid-West Region. With a population of almost 100,000 the city boasts a great nightlife, plenty of shopping and an improving inclusive cultural scene. With a history dating back 5,000 years the city is a marvel for tourists and interested locals a like, from Kings Island across to Lough Derg there are stories, told and untold, everywhere.

Hi Kimberly

Many happy returns and a belated happy patricks day to you to.

The theme of the parade this year in Limerick was “go green” which might be of interest to you over there. I am currently uploading video and will fire off a link to you when I am done.
