A state’s supreme court upholds Instant Runoff Voting (IRV)

Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) is a way of voting where voters can rank their candidate choices. It is supported by Fair Vote and by the Green Party. Since IRV is a new idea to some people, they often worry if it can be done, and if their local governments will allow it. So, the court win may be useful in overcoming objections to pro-IRV campaigns.

In addition, since IRV tends to help third parties, this news should be good for third parties in Minnesota.
