The largest ever U.S. humanitarian aid convoy is now gathering in Egypt to head across the border into Gaza on Monday, July 13. This medical convoy is on the way to Gaza a month after U.S. President Barack Obama described the situation in Gaza as a “humanitarian crisis.”

“Our convoy is on an aid mission,” says British MP and convoy organizer, George Galloway, “We come in peace; but we will not be stopped.”

Egyptian authorities have held up the convoy claiming that it has not acquired the necessary travel permits from U.S. officials in order to cross into Gaza. But the convoy sent copious documentation, on request, to several Egyptian state officials before even setting foot in Cairo.

In light of the recent slaughter Gaza that began on December 29, 2008, and the suffocating siege that continues to take its toll on the Palestinian population, it is clear that humanitarian aid is desperately needed to the people of Gaza.

On Monday, July 13, solidarity activists across the country are calling for protests and rallies in solidarity with the Viva Palestina convoy. Join local activists in Washington, DC at the Egyptian Embassy as we demand that Egyptian authorities allow the convoy through.
