Saturday October 10th

12-2pm            Magical Activism

What is Magic? What is Activism? Come explore these questions and how we can use magic to enhance our ability to defend all living things. From simple awareness exercises to tools for supporting actions far away, magic is a critical tool for creating the world we crave and the communities with adore.

2-3pm                        Seedballs

Seed balls are a no-till method for vegetating an area, especially well-suited for disturbed areas, compacted, or barren soils.  Seed balls create a protected venue to keep seeds safe from blowing away, drying out, or being eaten by animals while they germinate and get established. When seed balls are spread on a site, they don’t need any irrigation, because they wait patiently until the rains come to wash away the clay and germinate the seeds.You can use seed balls in your driveway, the barren lot next door, construction areas, in your garden, native habitat restoration, or to spread edible plants around LI, guerrilla gardening style.

3-4pm                        Permibus Tour

We will be taking 15-20 minutes to walk people through the various Permaculture systems in the bus. The Tour is illustrated with Permaculture Principle posters created by Permaculturist and pagan writer Starhawk.

4-7pm                        Mommy Medicine and Basic Herbal Remedies

When its not bad enough for the hassles of seeing a doctor but leaves you feeling miserable its time for mommy medicine that makes life healthier and happier. Learn how to treat common complaints such as flu, tummy aches, toothaches, blisters, rashes, aches and pains, and other bothersome realities using all the tools in the toolbox. This offering ncludes how to make a simple tincture.

Sunday October 11th

12-2pm            Permaculture Basics

Can Permaculture save the world? Come to Permaculture 101 and find out. In Permaculture 101 we will address Permaculture’ s role in combating global climate change by sequestering carbon, gaining control over our food, water, and energy, and re-engineering our thinking to see the world and its inhabitants as interconnected and interdependent. We will discuss the history, ethics, and principals of Permaculture as well. Come learn basic Permaculture and discover for yourself if Permaculture can save the world.

2-3pm                        Composting

Build soils, grow food, sequester carbon, fight global climatic change, that’s composting. Now let’s learn to do it without all that work! Composting the natural way is easier and more efficient. We’ll show you how.

3-4pm                        Permibus Tour

4-5pm                        Water Management

Water is life and it’s our job to care for it. Gray water, rainwater catchments, conservation, the water cycle; these mysteries and more will be unlocked while we travel through the world of water management.

5-7pm                        Understanding and Caring for Our Furry Friends

Animals are an intricate part of many families. If they are part of your community it is important to understand how they communicate, how to develop healthy relationships with the critters in your life, and how to best provide care to ensure happy and healthy pets including basic pet first aid.

Tuesday October 13th

5-6:30pm            Community Conflict Resolution

Conflict within our communities is an ever-present challenge, often leaving participants burnt out and communities divided. Explore tools we can use to resolve conflict; whether a result of interpersonal conflicts, mental health issues, economic unbalance, or good old fashion gossip, in a healthy way that can leave our communities stronger and more vibrant. Remember, a good community conflict resolution structure is our best defense against the fracturing and infighting which daunts so many communities of loving friends.

7-9pm                        Community Organizing

Explore ways to organize communities, create campaigns, and build support in order to create change in your community, country, and world. Learn how to do outreach, press, and community action in order to improve effectiveness in the  struggle for economic, social, environmental, and climate justice.
