Early polls for 2010 NY Governor and Attorney General races

These stats are great research for third parties to see who the competition might be for statewide office, and what voters are thinking about their NY government. There is a link to a detailed Siena poll with a long list of candidates. At the bottom of this post, I listed all the names-only of the public figures that the Siena Poll asked about. (I don’t think any of them third party, sigh…). Also, two stories by Elizabeth Benjamin at the NY Daily News interpreting the stats.

Siena On The 2010 Horserace: Gubernatorial Edition

Today’s Siena poll found Paterson’s favorable/unfavorable ratings have improved slightly over the past month, creeping up from 27-61 in October to 33-56 today. His job performance is virtually unchanged, hovering at 21-79.

The governor continues to trail far behind his likely primary opponent, AG Andrew Cuomo, who is now ahead by 59 percentage points (16-75), compared to 50 last month (20-70).

The poll was conducted Nov. 8-12…

At this point, Paterson is lagging behind all of his would-be challengers – even Republican Rick Lazio, the only announced GOP candidate for governor, who has a slight, three-percentage point lead.

This is the first time Lazio has led Paterson…
