Guv debate: Please comment here PLUS other places to comment and where to watch

Ian and I hope to be attending the NY Governor Debate at Hofstra this evening. If so, we will see if there is a way at intermission to give an update and/or we will post some thoughts afterward.

We do hope that the community of onthewilderside readers, politicos, third party supporters, and people who stumbled here searching for debate info may decide to have a dialogue in the comment section of this post. Most comments will appear right away. (Though, if your comment does not appear, apologies for our spam settings, and we will get stuff that looks good up as soon as possible.)

If you would like to join the official debate from the sponsors, News12 set up a discussion page on FaceBook: here.

Where do you go to watch the debate on TV?

You can see it live at News 12, for the following areas:
Long Island
Westchester
The Bronx
Brooklyn

In other areas of the state, I think you would have to watch it online at News12 to get it live.
Though, I think that it will be shown at other times on the following media outlets:
Time Warner Cable’s NY1 and YNN.

For radio in the NYC metro area, Chris Garvey passed on this resource:
The debate will be broadcast live on radio: WNYC at 93.9 FM 7:00 PM

What will you see? A NY Governor debate among all the candidates on the ballot – seven candidates!

Charles Barron (Freedom Party)
Andrew Cuomo (Democratic Party)
Kristin Davis (Anti-Prohibition Party)
Howie Hawkins (Green Party)
Jimmy McMillan (Rent is too Damn High Party)
Carl Paladino (Republican Party)
Warren Redlich (Libertarian Party)

  1. You guys still don’t know if you have tickets? I have an extra one….my friend cancelled on me this morning. I’m leaving my house around 2:30-3:00.

  2. Below is a Link to a story of Cuomo’s corruption, when he ran the US Dept, of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The minor parties are so busy with their positive message, that they aren’t publicizing how evil their leading opponent is.

    • Thanks, Chris! Hope you will be interested in commenting throughout. Ian and I will be kind of tied down by the audience code of silence, if I understand things.

Thanks for the broadcast info, too. I will put it in the main post.

      ;)

  5. It was a shame that it was not broadcasted (on TV)
Streaming on Newsday was for pay only – unless you subscribed to that particular cable. NY1 didn’t have streaming so to see it, I had to invite myself to the house of someone who had Time Warner Cable.
Voter information shouldn’t have to be for pay.
I am glad I made the effort – my decision to vote Green has been reinforced.
At one point I did consider Charles Barron too, but he lost me at gay marriage.
The anointed one didn’t look so great – which is the main reason the media kept this low key.
I liked that the organizers didn’t play favorites like they did in the D primaries in 2008.

  6. Aww Shucks! Didn’t get a chance to even watch the debate live on television, but judging from what little I’ve learned through the eleven o’clock news reports last night it seems Mr. Cuomo faired well. The next Governor of New York should be prepared to represent all of the people of New York. Excluding others from the democratic process because of their race, gender or sexual-orientation is not the way to govern.
