Update on Occupy Wall Street Protest: Day #4 – Tuesday, September 20, 2011

The group who called for the action is Adbusters: here.

Great demonstration of consensus. Trying to take votes and straw polls, come to agreement, as things move fast.

Tuesday morning: Member of media team and two others arrested. The police are interfering with the press. They are blocking people’s ability to know what is going on. The police are interfering with our democracy. They are playing a game. As it is raining, they are not letting media people cover their equipment with tarps.

There is a new story up at OpEd News: here, with lots of details. As of about 8am Tuesday morning.

Someone said that the first Twitter hashtag protesters were using — OccupyWallStreet — got blocked. Here are three tags you can try to use to stay current, or check on what supplies they need.

#OccupyWallStreet
#globalrevolution
#takewallstreet

It would be great for people to go to Wall Street for support. But, I understand they are also taking food donation, and they have lists of needs, such as certain kinds of batteries.

There is a FaceBook page where you can vote on a list of demands to choose. One of the winners when I looked was “end corporate personhood”.

News reports say that 6 people were arrested. Several were arrested simply for wearing masks. (Which, someone commented, may put a crimp in people’s Halloween plans for NYC.)

On the radio show, “Democracy Now”, Rev. Jesse Jackson said that he supports the Occupy Wall Street protest. Story at DN!: here.

This person said on a stream, that they will post arrest videos at youtube soon: glassbeadian’s youtube

Several of the peace activists from Long Island posted photos of themselves at the protest. Lots of FaceBook sharing. (Ray, Walter, Rose, etc.)
