Candlelight Vigil
to commemorate the life of
Kevin Callahan

Thursday, September 20, 2012
7 pm

Liberty Park, Selden,
Long Island, NY
(On Franklin Ave between Boyle Rd & Linwood Ave)

Message from the Stand Up for Kevin page:

On September 20th, 2011, Kevin John Callahan was shot and killed in his own home.

He was in his house and called his mother to help him. He had said there was someone in the house that was going to hurt him. His mother proceeded to call her other son, Christopher, who decided to call 911. Christopher was on the call with the police for many minutes and said that there was someone in the house threatening Kevin.

As the police responded to the call, they took it upon themselves to enter the house. Kevin was hiding by himself (unarmed) in a back bedroom. Kevin was then shot through the door three times, which resulted in a fatal wound.

The police initially claimed that there was a confrontation with Kevin, which contradicts the Suffolk County Police police report and autopsy report (he was shot in the back).

In serious need of medical attention, Kevin was left behind in the room, in handcuffs, where he was left to die. However, the police officers involved were immediately sent to Stony Brook Hospital. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 7PM by the medical examiner.

On Thursday, September 20th, the Kevin Callahan family, friends, & supporters will be holding a candlelight vigil close to his home in Selden, Long Island. The vigil will begin at 7PM, and will be at Liberty Park which can be found at the end of Franklin Avenue, between Boyle Road and Linwood Avenue, in Selden (Suffolk County, Long Island), NY 11784.

Please join us to commemorate the life of Kevin Callahan.
