It is all over the news, based on an AP story.
Romney quit the presidential race, and seems to think this means John McCain is the candidate, and the Republicans are set to begin their full force campaign.
What it means for the short term is that the Republican field is: John McCain, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul. McCain is far ahead of the other two in delegates towards the Republican convention.
From past discussion with my Libertarian friends, I believe that the next move may be Ron Paul deciding to go back to running as a Libertarian.

AP excerpt:
John McCain effectively sealed the Republican presidential nomination on Thursday as chief rival Mitt Romney suspended his faltering presidential campaign. “I must now stand aside, for our party and our country,” Romney told conservatives.
“If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror,” Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.
