Paterson meets with long house chiefs

September 4, 2009 at 6:14 pm by James M. Odato

Gov. David Paterson had his first meeting with traditional Iroquois leaders Thursday afternoon. The Haudenosaunee chiefs gathering in the governor’s office in Albany represented the Tuscarora, Tonawanda Seneca, Mohawk, Onondaga and Cayuga tribes…

The meeting started late because the governor was still meeting with the Shinnecock in a separate get-together. The Long Island tribe is seeking federal recognition and plan to build a casino if it is obtained. Sites they’ve discussed include Aqueduct Race Track.

Full story, with a list of issues discussed is at the Times Union: here.
