Free Musician Workshop: “Getting Radio Airplay” 9/24/07

Long Island Music Hall of Fame Announces Getting Radio Airplay Workshop on Monday, September 24th, 2007-7:30pm at Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall, CW Post University

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame has announced details of its fourth workshop for musicians, “Getting Radio Airplay”. It will be presented on Monday, September 24th, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall, CW Post University, Brookville, New York.

This workshop will give musicians an opportunity to meet local radio personalities and learn what it takes to get the ever elusive airplay. Questions and ideas that will be explored include: how to get airplay and/or added to rotation, how to attract the attention of music directors or specialty show producers, how to choose the right station and/or show for your music, and many other aspects of radio exposure.

The event will consist of a panel discussion moderated by Richard L’Hommedieu – Chairman of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, a question and answer period and finally a meet and greet, where musicians will have the opportunity to talk directly with the Long Island radio people and submit their press kits.

Scheduled panelists include: Harlan Friedman from 107.1 FM WLIR, Jonathan Clarke from Q104.3, Jerry Schafer from 103.9 FM WRCN, Fingers & Joe Rock from 102.3 FM WBAB, Scott Kuchler from 100.9 FM WMIR, Ryan Parise from 91.9FM WSHR, Keri Fico (Music Director) and Christine Massi, from 90.1 FM WUSB, and Jamie Mazzo from 88.1 FM WCWP/WebRadioWCWP.

This program is free and open to the public – no registration is required. All musicians, bands, entertainers, managers and artist representatives are invited to attend this continuing series of free Long Island Music Hall of Fame workshops dealing with the music business, as an art-form and a business, on Long Island.

Sponsors of this Long Island Music Hall of Fame workshop are Aural Fix Magazine, and WebRadioWCWP/88.1FM WCWP and The Long Island Univerisity, C.W. Post Campus.

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization, which defines Long Island geographically rather than politically, as Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties, was created as a place to inspire in each person the desire to explore and celebrate music in all its forms and to be a place where the music community will find the support, resources and leadership necessary to aid them in that exploration. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame sponsors the Long Island Sound Award, traveling educational exhibits and is working to create a permanent home for the story of the Island’s musical heritage.

They will present their Second Annual Long Island Music Hall of Fame Induction Gala on October 21, 2007 at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College CUNY, in Flushing, Queens.
