Faux Organics at Walmart???

WakeUpWalMart.com Comments on Allegations that Wal-Mart Misrepresented Organic ProductsWASHINGTON, Nov. 14 /U.S. Newswire/ — Today, the Cornucopia Institute filed a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture accusing Wal-Mart of misrepresenting non-organic products as organic.

The following statement is attributable to Paul Blank, campaign director for WakeUpWalMart.com:

“We are deeply troubled by allegations today that Wal-Mart may be deceiving customers by trying to sell non-organic products as organic. These allegations come on the heels of a disturbing report which claimed that Wal-Mart may even be buying its ‘organics’ from China.

We call on Wal-Mart to immediately launch an independent investigation into the sourcing of every product it labels as organic because every consumer in America has a right to know whether or not they are getting what they pay for.

It is time for Wal-Mart to come clean with the American people about how, and from where, it sources its organic products.”
