Beaucoup Blue @ Acoustic Cafe 10/13/07

Father & Son Acoustic Blues & Roots Duo Plays Bay Shore, Oct. 13

Philadelphia’s Beaucoup Blue Brings Soulful Voices & Solid Musicianship to LI

Beaucoup Blue, a Philadelphia-based father and son acoustic blues and roots duo, will perform for The Eclectic Café at the Unitarian Universalist Society of South Suffolk in Bay Shore on Saturday, Oct. 13. The duo, whose blend of soulful voices and solid musicianship is steadily gaining attention, takes the stage at the church, located at 28 Brentwood Road, at 8:30 p.m. Preceding them will be an open mic at 7:30 p.m.

“Although their latest release is entitled Hearts at Home, Adrian and David Mowry [Beaucoup Blue] have been pouring their hearts and souls into their music and taking it on the road to receptive audiences for a couple of years now,” writes Michael Kornfeld, editor & publisher of AcousticMusicScene.com. The duo evoked a well-deserved standing ovation following their rousing performance as part of the Folk Music Society of Huntington’s first annual Emerging Artists Showcase earlier this year and has garnered plaudits and new fans at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Huntington Folk Festival, Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) conference, and at live music venues across the East Coast. Beaucoup Blue also has been the subject of a cover feature in Acoustic Live in New York City & Beyond.

Adrian Mowry plays six- and 12-string guitars, while his dad, David, an experienced blues master, plays six-string, slide and dobro guitars. The two trade-off on vocals. Although strongly rooted in the blues, the duo’s music draws on country, folk, soul, R&B, and jazz as well and is a tasty mix of originals penned by both Mowrys, along with select covers.

Admission to The Eclectic Café is $10. For more information, call (631) 661-1278 or log-on to www.eclecticcafe.org.
