Environmental activists asked the state Legislature yesterday to block Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s budget proposal that would shift $125 million from the state’s largest environmental fund to the state’s general fund.
“To start out by removing half of the Environmental Protection Fund is really a signal that they are giving up on environmental protection this year,” Adirondack Council spokesman John Sheehan said.
