Gina Forsyth
Raised in Alabama, Gina Forsyth grew up on hymns, country songs and old-time fiddle tunes. In 1983, she moved to New Orleans, where she studied classical and jazz violin under Ellis Marsalis and others at Loyola University. A favorite singer-songwriter of Dave Carter, Kate McDonnell, Chuck Brodsky, Leslie Smith, and The Sons Of The Never Wrong, Gina Forsyth is also a respected Cajun fiddler.
She has toured with the Cajun rock band Mamou, and is currently performing with The Malvinas. Her current CD “You Are Here” has been described as “an eclectic, beautifully played testament to choosing the right personnel and crafting a great song.”
Gathering Time

Gathering Time is a new acoustic vocal trio with strong hints of Peter, Paul & Mary and CSNY, consisting of members Glen Roethel, Stuart Markus and Hillary Foxsong — three emerging talents on the acoustic music scene.

They formed in 2006 when Stu and Glen, who’d known each other in passing for several years, reconnected and Glen invited Stu to ‘crash’ a few of his gigs along with Hillary. Once they had played and sung together, all three understood they were involved in something very special.

Featuring tight three-part harmonies and crisp guitar playing, they perform their own original songs as well as those of other local songwriters, along with a few folk-rock classics thrown in for good measure.

The Song Box house concert series is now in its 8th season. This month’s show will be held in a recording studio at a private residence in Seaford (south shore Nassau County). Seating is limited to about 35. A pot-luck buffet is served during the break between performers – bring something if you’re feeling creative.

Please make advance reservations by sending an email to songbox@optonline.net. You will be sent a confirmation and directions via return email. Reservations can also be made at (516) 579-5365. Leave a message with your name and phone number and we’ll call you back to confirm and give you directions.
