Ok, so I’m a little behind. We’ve been having so much fun doing activist videos that we’re behind on our blogging, laundry, sleep, etc.
But with election season coming up for villages, school boards and library boards in the next few months, it’s timely to read Politics the Wellstone Way, How to Elect Progressive Candidates and Win on Issues. I found it more useful than most other books on running for office which start from a major party point of view. This book comes to running for office from an activist point of view. It even sprinkles in a few positive nods to the Green Party!. I found the discussion of how to effectively communicate with voters provides step-by-step information to make sure you are heard. The Wellstone people also show you how to apply the same organizing techniques used for political campaigns to issues activism.
More to come. . . as soon as I finish editing some more video
