Isheli Yi Park, Poet Laureate of Queens. Ishle Yi Park has performed her unique blend of poetry & song across the United States, Cuba, New Zealand, Singapore, and Korea.
Ishle’s first book, The Temperature of This Water, is the winner of 3 awards: the Pen America Award for Outstanding Writers of Color, the Asian American Literary Awards’ Members’ Choice Award, and Honorable Mention for Poetry for the Association of Asian American Studies. It was also the best-selling book of the Asian American Writers’ Workshop for 2004-2005. It is currently in its second printing. Readings will be held at the Village of Great Neck Plaza Town Hall. Ishle’s CD, entitled Work is Love, includes tracks with Korean traditional drums, Spanish guitar, beatboxing, and music produced by Japan’s critically acclaimed DJ Honda.
