Green Party Announces Details for July National Event in Reading

Presidential candidates, workshops, and musical acts to be announced at press conference on Monday, May 21, 1 pm at Abraham Lincoln Hotel, 5th & Washington Streets in Reading

Today, Green Party leaders and county officials will announce details for the upcoming Green Party Annual National Meeting to be held in Reading this summer.

Over 200 delegates from around the country including international visitors are expected to attend the July event.

In addition to the business meetings aimed at delegates, there will also be workshops,
speakers, and a music festival for the general public.

Highlights include:

• Presidential Forum – any candidate currently seeking the Green Party nomination for President in 2008 will have an early opportunity to address party delegates
• Juan Behrend, Co-Secretary General of the European Green Party
• Catherine Austin Fitts, President of Solari, Inc. a socially responsible investment firm, and former Federal Housing Director in the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
• Numerous workshops on topics such as “media relations,” “running for office,” and “building an effective organization”
• Special three-day workshop on “Dismantling Racism” – open to the general public
• Musical groups: Juggling Suns, Green Onions, Hexbelt, Uncle Skip, and the Robin Irvin All Star Band

Local vendors will also be allowed to display their products and services at the meeting.
Groups who desire to sell items and/or display information to the participants are encouraged to contact the Berks County Green Party to inquire about vendor and exhibitor rates.
