Note: Local peace movement on News 12, Sat. May 3rd (and on scene photos here, too)

The Suffolk Peace Network and other Long Island groups held a demonstration at the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa today, Saturday, May 3rd, 2008. It was well attended, including some Green Party members, Pax Christi and members of PeaceSmiths.

A handful of pro-war people attended. They mostly stayed on their corner, though one time came by our line to taunt, harass and question us. Things stayed pretty calm. (Photo above shows 3 pro-war people in the street (backs to camera), confronting peaceful demonstrators. On the right is a media person filming.

We heard that there is a News 12 story that is being aired tonight (their news usually repeats at the top of each hour.) Hope you might watch our activism in action. (Photo above: Can you spot the PeaceSmiths board member?)
