A sampling in California: Cynthia McKinney gets 4%

I like mock elections. I admire mock elections where the grown-ups admit to the students that third parties exist. Below is a story about a mock election at a high school in Albany, California. The results were: Cynthia McKinney received four percent!

Albany High School

And The Votes Are In!

…Though it is not likely a surprise to the progressive town of Albany, Barack Obama obliterated all candidates in the AHS mock election on October 22, raking in 86% of the student vote.

With an actual population of 1,300, 572 out of the 750 registered students participated in Wednesdays mock election, which was organized by the AHS Connect program and supported by the League of Women Voters…

The results are as follows:

Barack Obama (democratic)                 492 votes          86%

John McCain(republican)                      26 votes            5%

Cynthia Mckinney(Green)                    25 votes            4%

Bob Barr(Libertarian)                            14 votes           2%

Ralph Nader(Peace and Freedom)           5 votes       .9%

Alan Keyes( American Independent)       2  votes       .4%
