View of the Obama Election: A NY Nader supporter

This was in response to a request to remove someone from their political e-mail list.

Hello

i’m happy to accede to your request and remove you from the ‘political’ list

my fear is that the one party with two heads has come up with a head that people love so much that they overlook or forgive any transgression

my prediction is that we will have:
-war in afghanistan
-health care which few can afford
-coal and nuclear power, neither of which are clean or safe
-aggressive policies in the mid east that only serve to destabilize the  region and enrich the war mongers
-further privatization and anti-immigration policies, as shown by his first appointment, the right winger Rahm Israel Emmanuel

perhaps you will at least keep up with the unbiased facts on Democracy Now [www.democracynow.org] and on WBAI-FM @ 99.5. it is heard at 9 a.m. every day and is available on their web site. Reporter Amy Goodman is the most unbiased and above-reproach person in media today.

in short, he may seem like a man of the people but he is furthering the same policies that have hurt so many, regardless of how nice he seems. during his campaign, he spoke out of both sides of his mouth on campaign financing, the mid east, said he was willing to debate anyone and never debated any third party candidates, and spouted such absurdities as ‘clean coal’ and ‘safe nuclear energy’. Furthermore, there are reports of plans to strip mine for uranium from PA to VT in order to supply these plants. Imagine the horrific repercussions of that.

in fact, the dem/reps have conspired to keep any real dissent out of the public discourse; you must not let a celebration over ‘a black man in the white house’ make you ignore that… Colin Powell is black and he lied about Iraq and sent thousands to their death… Condoleeza Rice is black and she not only lied about 9/11, she is so deeply in bed with the oil companies that there was an oil tanker named after her… so please don’t let the desire to ‘join the party’ force you to act against the best interests of the human race

finally, my feeling is that it is a mistake and a falsehood to think that art/music is separate from politics

there is no such thing as politics; just who gets fed and who gets shot

‘hope’ never did anything; only open minds and education and unbiased information [which you won’t get from corporate controlled media like the tv or papers or government controlled media like NPR] will give you the real picture

  1. since when, citizen zen, is “democracy now!” unbiased? ‘left gatekeeper’ amy goodman has consistently participated in the coverup of 911, as well as—since the inception in the mid eighties—the other biggest hoax, that of ‘hiv’/’aids’. (www.healaids.com) amy along with ‘shill’ michael moore (whose films, ‘bowling for columbine’ and ‘farenheit 911’ perpetuated the myth of there having been arab hijackers, an osama bin laden authorship, plane hitting the pentagon, cellphone calls from the airliner, etc., etc.) continues to tout the official line, scapegoating those millions of innocents who have suffered in afghanistan, iraq and palestine. who benefits? http://www.whodidit.org

yes, obama has to be a miracle worker (after all, he was called the ‘messiah’ by louis farahkan) to turn the ship around, as many would want him to do. is he up to the task? only time will tell. meanwhile, send him light, pray for him, and for this country, and do everything possible to organize and mobilize the forces for good, so that evil has less chance to manifest….. visualize world peace, and all that it entails. raphael

  2. …so you agree with everything else i wrote?

  3. Obama: GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE
Barack Obama, for all his rhetoric, has supported the corporations in practically all of his actions. Like McCain, he is for the bail out of wall street WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because there was no oversight, no public discourse, and no provisions to help people with their financial problems which are primarily caused by low minimum wage, few affordable educational opportunities, and predatory lending practices by the CORPORATIONS.

Like McCain, he does not support a single payer health care system WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because the $$$ just goes to the insurance companies and people do not really get covered.

Like McCain, he does not support same sex marriage, WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE, because this disallows folks from getting benefits like insurance and legal protection.

Like McCain, he did not support ending the drug war WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because the alcohol companies benefit and the growing prison industry benefits while people go through hell.

Like McCain, he did not support ending the death penalty, WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because the growing prison industry benefits from this crime against humanity that impacts the most on minorities.

Like McCain, he does not support raising the minimum wage to at least $10 WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because they can continue to take advantage of people by underpaying them.

Like McCain, he does not support bringing ALL troops home from Iraq NOW nor does he oppose mercenaries and contractors there WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because the war machine people have made more money than ever and are killing people and destroying the infrastructure and the land with radioactive shell casings on the bullets which gives everyone, including our troops, cancer and leukemia.

Like McCain, he does not support a 2 state solution in Israel WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because there will be continued arms sales and continuing killing. Like McCain, he has not opposed NAFTA and WTO WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because corporations can continue to take advantage of the people with low wages and bad working conditions, regardless of his ‘support’ for unions which will mean little without the repeal of WTO and NAFTA, et al.

Like McCain, he voted for FISA and other civilian spying programs WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because they make money on the technology while we suffer the consequences of the loss of freedom.

Like McCain, he does not oppose offshore drilling WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because they make money while we and the environment suffer.

Like McCain, he talks about ‘clean’ coal and ‘safe’ nuclear energy neither of which exist in the real world WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because they make big bucks while folks get sick and die over this.

In 2003, Obama VOWED to repeal the PATRIOT ACT but VOTED FOR IT in 2008 WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because they make $$$ on the technology while we suffer further loss of liberty.

Obama SUPPORTED SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE in 2003 but “NEVER SAID IT” in 2008 WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because we are denied health care while the insurance industries overcharge as do the medical care industries.

Obama PROMISED to use PUBLIC CAMPAIGN FINANCING in 2007 but REJECTED it in 2008 WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because, although a large number of people donated small amounts to his campaign, most of the money came from big donors associated with corporations therefore making it less likely that he can truly hear the voice of the people.

He chose NOT TO VOTE for the Consumer Product Safety Commission Bill which would have increased funding to the CPSC WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because we are not protected while corporations don’t have to spend money to increase safety of their products.

In 7/31/2008 he did not vote on the Higher Education Amendment Act which would have increased the availability and amount of Pell Grants WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because fewer educational opportunities for the people mean more acceptance of the status quo [like people blindly accepting what obama says and yelling ‘the nader cult is finished’ and not dealing with facts] and means more people to serve in the military for their corporate sponsored wars for oil.

do i have to go on…?

ok, he’s a member of the democratic party and did not complain about the Presidential Debate Commission being a private corporation headed by one dem and one repub WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because it stifles dissent and furthers the aims of the corporations which are stoned on greed.

His VP is Joe Biden who was the architect of the disastrous Drug War WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE because they sell more booze this way and put more people in jail which, as i said is a growth industry.

Biden also came up with the law that means that folks cannot declare bankruptcy, WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS BUT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE, because the credit card companies with their deceptive, predatory practices can continue to take advantage of people while the reason most folks declare bankruptcy is….—> exorbitant medical bills!

A man of the people? You decide…
