Last year, many of you boarded buses in cities across the state and headed to Albany to demand that our lawmakers clean up their acts. Thanks in large part to your efforts, significant advances have been made and further reforms appear possible. This May 9, we will once again take the fight to lawmakers' offices with Reform Day in Albany.
Spring cleaning time is here again, and our statehouse needs a good sweeping and scrubbing. Please sign up to join us today!
Last year was a year of unusual reform activity in Albany. The Assembly and Senate both made important improvements to the rules that govern each of the Houses, and significant legislation was introduced that would reform our campaign finance system, close loopholes in our lobbying laws, and reform the way elections are conducted in New York State. This year, the New York State Lobbying Commission has already acted to significantly limit the value of gifts that legislators can receive from lobbyists.
Though the reforms enacted have been broad, they have lacked depth. More work still needs to be done.
Our lobby day on May 9, in partnership with our co-sponsor groups, will bring together hundreds of New Yorkers from all over the state to deliver a clear message to lawmakers in Albany: this year, it's time to finish the job of reforming state government.

For those of you who don't live near the capital district, we will have buses leaving from New York City, Westchester, Kingston, Rochester and Syracuse to bring activists from across the state to Albany for this important event. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please indicate on your online registration form whether or not you wish to reserve a space on one of our buses.
As you register, please also consider making an online donation to support this exciting day. Our anticipated budget, including buses, materials, food, room rental, etc. is approximately $20,000. We rely on support from members and activists like you to make events like this one possible. If you are traveling to Albany in one of our buses, there will also be an opportunity to make a $10 suggested donation to help cover the cost of your seat on the day of the trip.
