“China Doll”
Author/Speaker, Discussion, Book Signing with Talia Carner, author of “China Doll” and “Puppet Child”
Noted author Talia Carner will discuss the writing of her new novel China Doll and the sexism issues raised at the Beijing 1995 international women’s conference: Infanticide in China and the orphanages controversy (Has China really changed its attitude and practices toward “surplus populations” ?)
Ms. Carner will explore whether the American government is under pressure to ignore infancticide and how the basic concept of mother love is juxtaposed over the large canvass of political forces and women’s issues.
The book chronicles an American pop music icon who finds herself on a collision course with the world’s two superpowers- and her label that controls her career–when she tries to save a Chinese baby from death in the dumping ground of Chinese orphanges.
Copies of the book will be available at a special, discounted rate.
