Welcome to Boog City: NYC Poetry and Music Festival 8/2 – 8/8/5/07

I’ll be putting on Welcome to Boog City, a poetry and music festival in New York City.

Thurs. Aug. 2, 6:00 p.m. ACA Galleries (529 W.20th St., bet. 10th/11th aves.) We’ll be kicking off the festival with the first date of year five of our monthly d.a. levy lives: celebrating the renegade press series.We’ll be hosting David Baratier’s Pavement Saw Press (Columbus, Ohio) and his authors–Tony Gloeggler, Simon Perchik, Rachel M. Simon, and Daniel Zimmerman–with music from John McDonough and Paul Spencer.

Fri. Aug. 3, 7:30 p.m.-1:00 a.m. Sidewalk Café (94 Ave. A @E.6th St.)
We’ll feature poets and music from
I Feel Tractor, The Leader, Nan and the One-Night Stands, and The Passenger Pigeons (formerly The Sparrows).

Sat Aug. 4, 11:00 a.m-9:00 p.m. Cakeshop (152 Ludlow St., bet. Stanton and Rivington sts.)
11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Our 4th Annual Small, Small Press Fair, this year with indie records and crafts, too. Each hour on the 15’s of the hour we’ll have a musical act do a 15-minute performance while the fair takes place on the floor of the club.
5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. We’ll have poets reading and musicians playing and then The Fugs first album, The Village Fugs, performed live by Paul Cama, I Feel Tractor, Scott MX Turner, and more. [Ian Wilder will be reading at615pm]

Sun. Aug. 5, 1:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Bowery Poetry Club (308 Bowery, @E.1st St.)
On Boog’s 16th anniversary, we’ll open with a poetry panel curated and moderated by Mitch Highfill, followed by a festival-ending event with poets reading and a performance from The Drew Gardner Flash Orchestra.
