but her performance of John Lennon’s Mother on Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur was enough to make me take notice. She performed the song with the intensity and depth of emotion that matched the personal nature of the lyrics. it shows that she worked on the song enough to overcome the natural reverence for the material and cause which might have caused other artists to turn in a much safer performance. I will have to check out her other work.
