Cue the Chuckle Patch: Carole & Paula at LIMHoF 10/21/07

Carole Demas and Paula Janis of TV’s The Magic Garden to be Presenters at The Long Island Music Hall of Fame Second Annual Induction Gala on October 21, 2007 at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College

Carole Demas and Paula Janis of TV’s The Magic Garden will be star presenters at The Long Island Music Hall of Fame’s (www.limusichalloffame.org) second annual Induction Gala on October 21st at the Colden Auditorium of the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College, the organization announced today.

Carole and Paula are among the big names who will be appearing at the 2007 Long Island Music Hall of Fame Induction Gala, in an event that is sure to rival last year’s festivities. (See the list of inductees below). This year’s Queens induction venue is especially significant, given the connections that many of the 2007 nominees and presenters have to the borough. Carole Demas and Paula Janis, the stars of The Magic Garden, a highly acclaimed and popular TV show which enjoyed a 12 year run on WPIX-TV, New York, are loved and remembered by a generation of children and their families. Friends since their student days in the Mixed Chorus at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, they have an impressive list of credentials, both as educators and entertainers. During their years as teachers in the New York City School System, Carole and Paula combined their teaching and performing talents. They formed a quartet “The Festival Line Singers,” with their brothers, and sang nightly concerts as part of the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park for several seasons. LIMHOF Chairman Richard L’ Hommedieu said: “We’re very excited that such beloved children’s entertainers and educators as Carole and Paula have agreed to join so many other important people in the music industry to help us celebrate Long Island’s rich musical heritage. We look forward to a great evening in October.”

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization defines Long Island geographically rather than politically – Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties – and was created as a place to inspire exploration and celebration of music in all its forms and where the music community will find the support, resources and leadership necessary to aid them in that exploration. The Hall of Fame sponsors the Long Island Sound Award, traveling educational exhibits and is creating a permanent home for the story of the Island’s musical heritage.

They will present their Second Annual Long Island Music Hall of Fame Induction Gala on October 21, 2007 at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College CUNY, in Flushing, Queens. For more information about the Gala and Long Island Music Hall of Fame, please visit their website at http://limusichalloffame.org/.

The 2007 induction class will include 24 individual musicians, groups and organizations.
