LI-CAN: The Long Island Climate Action Network
Dear Friend of Renewable Energy Long Island:
If you are ready and willing to become part of the solution to climate change but have not yet joined our Long Island Climate Action Network (LI-CAN), now is the time to do so.
Two clicks of the mouse and a few keystrokes to take the LI-CAN Low Carb(on) Pledge and you are off to a good start at http://www.renewableenergylongisland.org/li-can.cfm
But we (and you) can do better than that: On Sunday, May 18, 2008 we are offering a full day workshop free of charge for anyone who signs up as a LI-CAN volunteer this week.
You will receive thorough training as either a volunteer LI-CAN Educator or Organizer. This hands-on training will empower you to shrink your own carbon footprint by at least 5000 pounds in 30 days. Better yet, after completing the training you will be equipped to effectively educate and organize others in your community to become informed and act on climate change by making changes in their lifestyles, homes and communities.
We will be using The Empowerment Institute’s book Low Carbon Diet: A 30 Day Program to Lose 5000 Pounds–Be Part of the Global Warming Solution! by David Gershon.
Participation in our LI-CAN program is completely free and volunteers will receive a significant discount on the book.
There are several ways, varying in level of participation, in which you can become involved with LI-CAN. You can RSVP for the May 18 workshop right at RELI’s web calendar at http://www.renewableenergylongisland.org/calendar.cfm?calendarID=198&month=5
More information on this new grassroots-based initiative is available at www.RenewableEnergyLI.org/li-can.cfm.
I hope that you are as excited about this new endeavor as we all are and look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Gordian Raacke
