On Saturday, July 12, we are offering a full day workshop free of charge for anyone who signs up as a Long Island Climate Action Network (LI-CAN) volunteer.
The workshop start at 9:30 AM at SUNY Stony Brook’s Long Island High Technology Incubator in Stony Brook. Food and refreshments will be served, and there will be a reception to celebrate your successful training.
You will receive thorough training from our trainers and mentors as either a volunteer LI-CAN Educator or Organizer, and you can decide at the workshop which track to take.
This hands-on training will empower you to shrink your own carbon footprint by at least 5000 pounds in 30 days. Better yet, after completing the training you will be equipped to effectively educate and organize others in your community to become informed and act on climate change by making changes in their lifestyles, homes and communities.
We will be using The Empowerment Institute’s book Low Carbon Diet: A 30 Day Program to Lose 5000 Pounds by David Gershon. (You will receive a significant discount on the book.)
While there is no fee for the workshop, you must RSVP. Space is limited so be sure to reserve your spot for the July 12th workshop today via RELI’s web calendar at http://www.renewableenergylongisland.org/calendar.cfm?calendarID=215&month=7
More information on this new and innovative grassroots-based initiative is available at www.RenewableEnergyLI.org/li-can.cfm.
I hope that you are as excited about this new opportunity as I am and look forward to hearing from you soon!
