View of the Obama Election: Party Chiefs React

This video is truly worth seeing. It is from the National Press Club, where there is a debate between DNC Chairman Howard Dean and RNC Chairman Mike Duncan about if Barack Obama has a mandate, and what is that mandate.

[brightcove vid=1902609723&exp=1417423198&w=486&h=412]

Some highlights:

-Howard Dean says “both parties” and “bipartisan” an excessive amount of times.

[Which recalls the comments of former Party Co-Chief of the Green Party of New York State, Ian Wilder who noted that it was very interesting that during Obama’s acceptance speech on Election Night, Obama mentioned he represented and would reach out to both Democrats and Republicans, but he did not mention “independents” as politicians often do, nor did he mention third parties, as politicians should do.]

-Mike Duncan gives a list of some of the issues that Barack Obama campaigned on: More nuclear, more off-shore drilling, increase the War in Afghanistan, etc. And, complimented Obama on having run an excellent campaign for a Moderate Republican.

-Mike Duncan is warning people of the leftists in Congress, and suggests that Obama must fight to push Nancy Pelosi “to the center.” Words cannot express how ridiculous that is. Please, ask Cindy Sheehan, or any peace activist, or impeachment supporter how left Nancy Pelosi is…or, maybe it was a subtle, rhetorical trick, of half truths, and Mike Duncan undesrtands that Nancy Pelosi must be pulled from the right back to the center…???? One can only guess…

-Howard Dean refers to “The political class” which I had not heard used before. Then, that phrase was used in another election summary blurb I read today. Who is the political class? Should we have a political class? Doesn’t everyone get to participate?

Note: A special thank you to Socialist Party Chief David McReynolds, for sending this video to his e-mail circle.  (Ummm…well….I guess that the socialists don’t tend to have chiefs as such, and in addition, there are a few different entities of socialist parties, so I guess David is not really the chief…)

And, I hope readers recognized that the title I bestowed upon my husband Ian Wilder was somewhat satirical. Though, he did serve as the Co-Chair of the Green Party of New York State, and as such, was successful in helping the party get Malachy McCourt on the ballot for Governor, which helped us to retain our enrollees.
