Pat Wictor/Pete Kennedy in Stony Brook, Sun 2/1/09

Dear friends and fans–

I’m very excited (and even a little nervous!) about my upcoming show with Pete Kennedy in Stony Brook.   Why  nervous?  It’s going to be a high-wire act, with surprises and improvisation, both of us playing stuff  together for the first time.  And Pete’s a GREAT  musician and guitar player, someone who makes my jaw drop  every time I see him play.  I’m going to have to stretch  to keep up with him!

Sunday, February 1, 2pm

Pete Kennedy is best known as half of The Kennedys  (www.kennedysmusic.com).  His new release,
“Guitarslinger” is his first solo project since  1992.  The new album is a stripped down, mostly acoustic
project that focuses on his incendiary solo guitar work.   Many of the tunes grew out of his solo tour of the south, earlier this year, with a few tributes tossed in: Chuck  Berry’s “You Can’t Catch Me”, Nat King  Cole’s “Nature Boy”, and Pete’s  arrangement of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”.   In many ways, the album is an homage to the heyday of the  roots music scene in DC, when guitar giants like Roy Buchanon and Danny Gatton were stalking the local clubs.

Going to be fun–now I gotta go practice!
;-)
See you soon, and thanks for the warm support!
