Naomi Wolf, the author of The End of America, In-person at Documentary Screening 1/30/09

On Friday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m., author Naomi Wolf and co-director Annie Sundberg will attend the screening of The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot to introduce the film and follow up with a question and answer session after the screening at Staller Center.

Single tickets to the film are $8; $6 for students and seniors (62+). Film passes good for all films in the spring series are $25; $20 for Stony Brook students. The documentary based on the book will be the first screening in Staller Center’s spring semester Films for Campus and Community. The compelling documentary is based on Naomi Wolf’s best-selling book The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot, a book that looks at the ten steps that close down a democracy.

The filmmakers taped a lecture given by Ms. Wolf and then illustrated her points with historical footage. The film is directed by Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg. A book and DVD signing will follow in the lobby.

The documentary film, The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot had its world premiere in October at the Hamptons Film Festival. The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot is a New York Times bestseller and is published in 2007 by Chelsea Green.

Naomi Wolf was born in San Francisco in 1962. She was an undergraduate at Yale University and did her graduate work at New College, Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar.

Her essays have appeared in various publications including: The New Republic, Wall Street Journal, Glamour, Ms., Esquire, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. She also speaks widely to groups across the country.

The Beauty Myth, her first book, was an international bestseller. In 2002, Harper Collins published a 10th anniversary commemorative edition of The Beauty Myth.

Naomi Wolf is also the author of the forthcoming Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries.

Naomi Wolf is co-founder of the Board of The Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership, an organization devoted to training young women in ethical leadership for the 21st century. The institute teaches professional development in the arts and media, politics and law, business and entrepreneurship as well as ethical decision making.
