After heavy rain, Suffolk advisory targets 59 beaches

Citing heavy rain that could increase the bacterial content in area waters to unsafe levels, Suffolk officials announced Tuesday that they are issuing an advisory against bathing in 59 beaches in the county until at least 24 hours after the rain stops…

The advisory will remain in effect until Wednesday unless officials find elevated bacterial levels in the waters.

The affected beaches are: Cold Spring Harbor Beach Club, Eagle Dock Community Beach, Lloyd Harbor Village Park Beach, Gold Star Battalion Beach, Bay Hills POA Beach, Baycrest Beach, Crescent Beach, Head of the Bay Club Beach, Nathan Hale Beach Club, Wincoma Beach, Centerport Beach and Fleets Cove Beach.

They also include: Huntington Beach Community Association, Knollwood Beach, Asharoken Beach, Hobart Beach (Bay), Hobart Beach (Inlet), Prices Bend Beach, Steers Beach, Bayberry Cove Beach, Bayview Beach, Grantland Beach, Indian Field Association Beach, Little Bay Beach, Long Beach, Nissequogue Point Beach Club, Schubert Beach, Short Beach, Stony Brook Beach, Stony Brook Yacht Club Beach, Soundview Beach Association, Beech Road Beach, Broadway Beach, Crab Meadow Beach, Friendship Drive Beach, Miller Place Park Beach, Scotts Beach, Shoreham Shore Club Beach, Shoreham Village Park Beach, Shoreham Beach, Sound Beach POA East, Sound Beach POA West, Terraces on the Sound Beach, Tides Beach, Woodhull Landing Beach, Valley Grove Beach, Bayberry Beach & Tennis Club, Bayport Beach, Benjamin’s Beach, Brightwaters Village Beach, Corey Creek Beach, Islip Beach, Patchogue Village Pool & Beach Club, Sandspit Beach, Sayville Beach, Sayville Marina Park Beach and Venetian Shores Beach.
