KW: Oops! I let an e-mail sit in my box too long, and I missed telling folks about the big barbecue/film event tonight for Seeds for Haiti. Hope it went well. And, will try to get you word next time.
If you are interested in ways to help Haiti, and keeping up with Seeds for Haiti yourself, below is a link and some stuff from the web-site:
Mission: Bassin Zim EDF [Seeds for Haiti] is a non-profit organization that provides short term aid to disaster victims, and supports long-term agricultural and environmental improvement in Haiti . We support peasant organizing, education, and women owned businesses, and serve as a conduit for financial donations to Haitian organizations. In the Who We Are section, Seeds says:
Seeds campaign was created in 1993 in Boston with the purpose of:
* Building awareness among Haitians and non Haitians about what was going on in Haiti with Grassroots organizations – mainly peasants – in Haiti under the military dictatorship of that time.
* Raising funds to support projects in different areas.
We received contributions from many individuals and foundations including: Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC), Oxfam America, Pond Foundation, Grassroots International, Funding Exchange, and others.
Our partners in Haiti include: KOSMIKA( a farmers cooperative), ASTRAL (a food transportation co-op) and the Peasant Movement of Papaye (MPP).
