Dr. Wangari Maathai, 2004 Nobel Peace Laureate and Founder of the Green Belt Movement (http://greenbeltmovement.org) [and Founder of the Kenyan Green Party], will be in the US and Canada for her Fall 2009 speaking tour, from September 18th to October 6th!

She will be making stops in Alberta, New York, Quebec, Ohio, and North Carolina. At both of these events, Dr. Maathai will be meeting with leaders of both private and public efforts to alleviate poverty around the globe and to work together in creating a greener future for the entire planet.

  • Sept. 20th-25th – New York, New York*Clinton Global Initiative and UN General Assembly MeetingsThese events are private and closed to the public.
  • Sept. 28th – Montreal, Quebec *A special discussion with Dr. Maathai at Concordia University.This event is free and open to members of the Concordia University community.
  • Sept. 29th – Wooster, Ohio*A special discussion with Dr. Maathai at the College of Wooster.This event is free and open to the public.
  • Oct. 1st – Raleigh, North Carolina *A special discussion with Dr. Maathai at Meredith College.This event is open to the public, and tickets are free.
