This is the first World March to circle the earth calling for the end of war and nuclear arms, and the elimination of violence of all kinds. The intention of the March is to:

  • achieve the eradication of nuclear weapons;
  • the progressive and proportional reduction of non-nuclear arms;
  • the signing of non-aggression treaties among nations; and
  • the renunciation of governments of war as a way to resolve conflicts.

The March hopes to generate a worldwide social conscience that condemns all forms of violence (physical, psychological, racial, religious, economic, sexual), which is currently so widespread and accepted by societies everywhere. The website for the World March is www.theworldmarch.org

One Response

  1. PARTICIPATING IN THE EXCEPTIONAL CASE IN POLITICAL COMMUNICATION CONFERENCE 2009

    We have learnt with keen interest the NCCR Democracy conference 2009 on the above mentioned subject scheduled to take place and therefore wish to participate in it.

    The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) is a centre left party in Ghana that believes in social democratic ideals. Formed in October 2006, the DFP contested in the 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections and placed fifth (5th) in a seven party, one-Independent candidate competition. Our Presidential candidate, Mr. Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi came behind Prof. J.E. Atta-Mills (Ruling NDC), Nana Akufo-Addo (then Ruling NPP), Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum (CPP), and Dr. Edward Mahama of the PNC. The showing was very encouraging as compare to these older parties some of which have participated in elections in Ghana since 1957.

    The aim of the DFP is to wrestle power from the NDC in the next general elections to be held in 2012. As part of our preparation towards the 2012 crucial elections, the leadership of the DFP wish to participate in the NCCR Democracy conference 2009 and any subsequent ones to pitch our quality of political communication with other more advanced democratic countries. We believe that these conferences would help deepen our knowledge in social issues such as egalitarianism, positive action towards feminism and disability, participatory, consensual and grass root democracy as well as policies to mitigate the sufferings of the Ghanaian masses.

    Kindly send us detail information of the conference as well as invitation. We hope to hear favourably from you.

    Yours sincerely,

    Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi

    (2008 Presidential Candidate)
