Groundhog Day 2011: What do the groundhogs say about winter?

Groundhog Celebrates Valentine's Day: 2011

A 2012 Long Island post-ground hog event at www.peacesmiths.org

On Wednesday, February 2, 2011, here is a round-up of ground hog reports for Ground Hog Day:

The most famous, prognosticator,
Punxsutawney Phil says:

No shadow, Spring is near.

More, groundhog predictions:

State Island Chuck of New York City says:
Chuck did not see his shadow, Spring is near. Chuck’s Story: here.

Malverne Mel of Nassau County, Long Island, NY says:
It’s so cold and icy, my gig was canceled. Think about it…how fast do you think Spring is coming?
(Newsday did report that Malverne Mel made an announcement at Village Hall this morning that he did not see his shadow. That would concur with Phil – and contradict Hal – Mel says it will be an early Spring.)

Holtsville Hal:
Saw his shadow! That should mean a long winter on Long Island. (Thanks to Long Island Press for the info.)
