    The Green Party of New York State regained automatic ballot status by getting over 50,000 votes for their Governor candidate in 2010. Look for us soon on your voter registration form and your ballot.

    Gaining ballot status enables the Green Party to run more peace candidates, more single-payer candidates, more anti-fracking candidates, and more sustainable energy candidates.

    The last time that the Green Party of New York State had ballot status it set the record for running the most Green candidates of any state.

    The Green Party is an alternative party to the Democrats and Republicans. The four pillars of the Green Party are: Nonviolence/Peace; Grassroots Democracy; Social and Economic Justice; and Ecological Wisdom.

FOLK-GROOVIN’ CAFÉ 7/9/11

JIM FRAZZITTA – A veteran singer/songwriter and a staple on the region’s acoustic music scene, Jim’s songs have received worldwide airplay. He was a founding member and frontman of the former, legendary band, Nylon & Steel. His music has been described as passionate and mesmerizing and his performances are a powerful blend of folk, acoustic rock, blues, and ballads. Jim is currently at work producing his third album of original music, entitled ,”Tales of the Midnight Busker.” It is set to be released later this year. Visit Jim online at : www.myspace.com/jimfrazzitta

SPECIAL GUEST FEATURES

ANNIE MARK -  A singer songwriter whose richly textured voice and unique style have  graced stages from Ireland to Nashville. Her songs are entertaining, honest, inspiring, full of depth and warmth, and humor too. Annie has worked as both a solo artist and in groups such as “Quarter Moon”, “The Lunartics”,“Calamities Children”,  “ Sugar Magnolia”, the “Mistletoe Girls”, and Tequila Mockingbird.  She has shared the stage with many artists including Livingston Taylor and Clarence Clemons. Annie’s song “Cadillac Car” has been recorded by the bluegrass band “Buddy Merriam and Back Roads”. Dubbed the “Song Lady” many years ago, Annie currently plays locally with Chris James and in an all original women’s trio, The Miss Trees. She also is an active performer in NYRMA (New York Roots Music Association), a group of musicians who perform shows every other month. Each show has a different musical theme, ranging from John Lennon, The Kinks, Hank Williams, and an all Texas theme and much more. Annie has a self-titled CD available filled with her originals ranging in style from folk, to country to blues.
SCOTT JAMESScott James is a Long Island based singer-songwriter who sings along soulfully with simple melodies blending folk, rock and blues based acoustic guitar. Scott observes life from the world that passes by and from within the relationships that world creates. At times Scott finds himself seeing that world through the lives of the people he meets and observes. Scott writes of family, love, loss, hope, reclaiming what’s his and taking a stand. Scott’s influences include Neil Young, Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan and The Band. Scott recently moved back to Long Island after living and playing over the past twelve years in Westchester and Putnam counties. Scott is currently writing and assembling songs for his first independent release set for late 2011.
