    The Green Party of New York State regained automatic ballot status by getting over 50,000 votes for their Governor candidate in 2010. Look for us soon on your voter registration form and your ballot.

    Gaining ballot status enables the Green Party to run more peace candidates, more single-payer candidates, more anti-fracking candidates, and more sustainable energy candidates.

    The last time that the Green Party of New York State had ballot status it set the record for running the most Green candidates of any state.

    The Green Party is an alternative party to the Democrats and Republicans. The four pillars of the Green Party are: Nonviolence/Peace; Grassroots Democracy; Social and Economic Justice; and Ecological Wisdom.

Mosquito spraying in Suffolk County 8/8/12

Weather permitting; the Suffolk County Department of Public Works is planning to treat sections of the following communities as part of their ongoing annual efforts to control adult mosquitoes.

The following treatments are for Vector Control:

Time and date of the application: August 8, 2012, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Approximate location(s): Ocean Bay Park on Fire Island

Sites to be treated:  – All streets in the Village.

Method of Treatment: Ground spraying – Ultra Low Volume Aerosol

Name of Pesticide: Anvil (sumithrin)

 

The following treatment is for West Nile virus: 

Time and date of the application: August 8, 2012, 7:30 PM – 11:30 PM

Approximate location (s): Babylon, West Babylon, North Babylon, West Islip and West Bay Shore

Sites to be treated:  – An area bounded on west by Santapogue Creek; on the north by Railroad Avenue to Little East Neck Road to Belmont Avenue to Southern Parkway; from Southern Parkway along Route 231 (Deer Park Avenue) to Union Boulevard, on the East by Windsor Boulevard and on the south by Great South Bay.

Method of Treatment: Aerial application – Ultra Low Volume Aerosol
