The Green Party of New York State regained automatic ballot status by getting over 50,000 votes for their Governor candidate in 2010. Look for us soon on your voter registration form and your ballot.

Gaining ballot status enables the Green Party to run more peace candidates, more single-payer candidates, more anti-fracking candidates, and more sustainable energy candidates.

The last time that the Green Party of New York State had ballot status it set the record for running the most Green candidates of any state.

The Green Party is an alternative party to the Democrats and Republicans. The four pillars of the Green Party are: Nonviolence/Peace; Grassroots Democracy; Social and Economic Justice; and Ecological Wisdom.

Why Vote Green?

The Iraq War has had too high a cost to Iraqis, to Americans, and specifically to New Yorkers. It has cost the lives of 159 New Yorkers and over $40 Billion of New Yorkers’ taxes so far. The Green Party has continually opposed entry into the Iraq war and has consistently called for the immediate return of our troops, in stark contrast to the Democratic and Republican parties. The Green Party is America’s Peace Party. The Green Party has always been part of the national peace movement. GPNYS ran War Resisters LeagueCo-Secretary David McReynolds for US Senate. UFPJ Steering Committee member George Martin is an active Green and former Wisconsin Green Party Co-Chair. The South Carolina Green Party ran Not in Our Name Steering Committee member Efia Nwangaza for US Senate. It’s time for the rank and file of America’s Peace Movement to come home to America’s Peace Party. Today we march, tomorrow we vote Green Party.Kimberly Wilder votewilder@yahoo.com and Ian Wilder ian.wilder@yahoo.com represent the 8th AD to the Green Party of New York State Committee. If you know of someone interested in running for State Committee, please email us or call at 631-422-4702.

One last thought from Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan:

We will never have a viable third party, though, as long as we vote out of fear and not out of integrity. Instead of voting for the “lesser of two evils” we should be voting for a candidate that reflects our “beatitudes” and not the war machine’s.
