Action Alert! Call Mayors to demand freedom for activists

To demand freedom for any activist detainees, and ask for reason and non-violence from the police at the Republican National Convention events, please consider calling the following numbers. The most publicized for action alerts are the phone for Mayor Chris Coleman and Mayor RT Ryback. The other ones are from related research.

Mayor of Minneapolis: RT Ryback (612) 673-2100

Mayor of St. Paul: Chris Coleman: (651) 266-8510
Fax to Mayor’s office: (651) 266-8513

St. Paul Mayor’s Chief of Staff: Sara Grewing: (651) 266-8527
St. Paul Mayor’s Staff person for (regular) conventions: Erin Dady: (651) 266-8878

Some background stories, and places I found action alerts:

*Salon.com story by Glenn Greenwald. Federal government involved in raids on protesters. Sunday Aug. 31, 2008 11:46 EDT: here. And, at: http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/08/31/raids/

*Old, lead-up to planning e-mail about DNC and RNC from UFPJ which mentioned Mayor’s contact and City Council people’s contacts: here.

In addition, this was posted to a national Green Party list-serve. It is my understanding that it is a request from the Cynthia McKinney for President/VoteTruth08 campaign:

THE ONLY THING THAT IS PERMANENT IS CHANGE.

Hello everyone,

Power to the People!

If you have a spare minute today or tomorrow, would you please pick up the phone and help the people that are being rounded up by calling Mayor Coleman?:

We are asking the public to contact the office of St. Paul, Mayor Chris Coleman at 651-266-8510 to stop this house arrest, this gross intimidation by police officers, and the detention of media activists
and reporters.

Feel free to pass that number 651-266-8510 out to all of your friends around the country that might have time to file a complaint with the mayor.
