At 7pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, the Babylon Green Party will host it Annual Green Party Holiday Party. Every year the Babylon Green party kicks back to celebrate the end of another election (and calendar) year. This year we will feature the music of Katherine Congdon.
Singer-songwriter Katherine Congdon, a Long Island native, imbues her music with rich life experiences and personally uplifting and politically compelling messages. Katherine began strumming on a guitar and writing her own music more than 30 years ago, and she hasn’t stopped since. Her eclectic style reflects her love of rock, country, blues, and folk. Whether strumming and singing, or fingerpicking an instrumental, Katherine plays from the heart.
Katherine is working on production of a CD of her original songs, due out in 2007. In addition to guitar, Katherine is studying the lute, and has written several pieces, one of which was published in the Lute Society of America Quarterly, September 2004 issue. She has practiced yoga for many years and is in the process of obtaining her RYT certification from Yoga Alliance. In addition to the arts, Katherine is a volunteer with local non-profit HealthyPlanet, serving as a Board member and as chair of various committees. She is the mother of 3 amazing teenagers who have taught her much about living and loving.
Our Jan. 3, 2007 gathering will have a speaker on Long Island Off-Shore Windmills. www.windworks4LI.org And the Feb. 7, 2007 will have Jean Waters and Robert Langley of Just Peace! to speak about how to get your own Public Access show and tape an open mic for their own show.
