Greenwich mayor (G-NY) comes out against nuclear energy proliferation

David Doonan

David Doonan

A resolution proposed by village [Green Party] Mayor David Doonan opposing the construction of any new nuclear power plant was tabled after some disapproval was expressed by other members of the Village Board. Doonan said he opposed any such facility because there has been no solution to the question of what to do with the waste.

“They’re basically sitting time bombs,” Doonan said. “To build a new one without knowing what to do with the waste is morally reprehensible.”
