Julian Assange has made his first public appearance in the two months since he took refuge at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

He thanked the hundreds of people gathered outside the embassy for their support, claiming it was their resolve and presence that stopped British police from storming the building…

[Julian Assange said] “On Wednesday, Bradley spent his 815th day of detention without trial. The legal maximum is 120 days,” Assange said. “If Bradley Manning did as he is accused, he is a hero and invaluable to all of us. Bradley Manning must be released.”

An excellent part of the speech was when Assange noted did his thank yous. Among them, he read with enthusiasm a list of Latin American countries who have come out to support him. Assange also thanks “the people” of The United States, The United Kingdom, and Sweden, and Australia, who have supported him, even when their governments have not.

South American countries have support Ecuador in its back of Assange. Below is a quote from euronews. The information was also reported in Reason and other sources.

South America is standing side by side with Ecuador over its decision to grant asylum to Julian Assange.

Foreign ministers from the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) expressed their backing as they met in emergency session in Ecuador.
