NYC March to End the War
Sunday, March 18
Mid-town Manhattan
Assemble at 1:00 , March at 2:00
March 19th will mark the 4th anniversary of war and occupation of Iraq which has now become one of this nation’s longest military engagements. 4 years of war and occupation; 4 years of death and destruction; 4 years of a war that never should have happened.
United for Peace and Justice/NYC is calling every New Yorker, every community group, every church, mosque and synagogue, every student organization, every tenant association, every labor union, every New Yorker to join us in the streets to say NO MORE!We will march at the time of the biggest showdown between the Congress and the Bush administration. We are calling upon our Congressional representatives and Senators to take action for
- an immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq .
- an end to the funding of this war except for the safe withdrawal of all our armed forces.
- no military attacks on Iran .
- full funding of veterans benefits.
- aid to reconstruct Iraq under Iraqi control.
- the redirection of our tax dollars for social programs at home.
This march is part of United for Peace and Justice’s national call for a massive outpouring of opposition to the war in locally based, decentralized actions throughout the U.S.
By next week, we will have leaflets available to be downloaded and picked up. Please stay tuned to our website www.unitedforpeace.org/nyc for updates on the march route, upcoming meetings, volunteering and more.
