This article is a reflection of race in the 2010 NY Governor race. The starting point was a quote by Sen. Ruben Diaz about Andrew Cuomo’s actions. Diaz said, “I am glad to hear that our future Governor, Andrew Cuomo has called Rev. Al Sharpton to apologize for not choosing a person of color on his ballot for Governor. At the same time, it worries me that Andrew Cuomo did not take the same opportunity and show a little respect and appreciation to the Hispanic community…”

Working Families Party Tries to Undermine the Anti-Fracking Movement the Way It Undermined the Anti-War Movement 4 Years Ago

Critique from a Green Party member: Working Family Party told anti-war voters to support pro-war candidates on their line in 2006, and after they won, never said another word about being anti-war. Now, when it is just a few days after the Green Party nominates a strong anti-fracking candidate for Governor, Howie Hawkins, the WFP comes out with a faux anti-fracking action alert. The Working Families Party in NY should be called the “We’re Faux Progressives” Party.

Hofstra has a history of ignoring and/or dismissing third party candidates. At the 2008 Presidential, real, third party candidates were not allowed. This time, in 2010, Hofstra is hosting a “Renew New York Initiative” which is only inviting the two, major parties, and will be aired on Newsday/News 12, ironically, an oppressive media duopoly.
