Hofstra University has designated the Hagedorn Hall outside area and parking lot, at the corner of Uniondale Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike as a Public Area.

Despite circus atmosphere, energy a hot topic in N.Y. governor’s race | MNN – Mother Nature Network

Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins took issue with Cuomo’s comments, claiming that his party calls for an outright ban of the practice, and warned that, “when the moratorium ends in May, it’s going to be drill, baby, drill!” via Despite circus atmosphere, energy a hot topic in N.Y. governor’s race | MNN – Mother Nature […]

Cuomo and Paladino Debate Recap – Both Lost the Debate Last Night – Esquire

The fact is that the audience last night responded most warmly and excitedly to McMillan’s so-crazy-it-just-might-work rent reduction plan, and Hawkins’s general decency and exasperation, and Redlich’s idealistic anti-government stance, and Davis’s tongue-lashings. These are not, in the parlance, “viable” candidates. But they — well, Hawkins and Redlich, anyway — offer viable plans. via Cuomo […]

Hofstra Debate: Notes from an eyewitness…

Kimberly writes: So, I was able to attend the debate as a friend of the Green Party. I was sitting in the special seating on the ground floor. Though, in the last row (right in front of the stand for the still photographers.) Some impressions: It was all very exciting. The moderators were Doug Geed […]

The Real Face-offs in the 10/18/10 NY Guv Debate

Below is excellent pre-debate commentary by Ian Wilder. For post-debate commentary from Kimberly Wilder (with Ian’s post-debate in comments) please go: here. Also, you can find full video of the live debate: here. OK, the corporate media keep playing up the face-off between Paladino and Cuomo like it is some kind of WWE event.  I […]

Hofstra to 1/3 of Voters: Drop Dead, Again

Hofstra has a history of ignoring and/or dismissing third party candidates. At the 2008 Presidential, real, third party candidates were not allowed. This time, in 2010, Hofstra is hosting a “Renew New York Initiative” which is only inviting the two, major parties, and will be aired on Newsday/News 12, ironically, an oppressive media duopoly.

Update on Hempstead 15: some vindication

KW: I am adding my own thoughts and opinions with facts from the recent statement and update about the Hempstead 15. The Nassau County District Attorney has offered the Hempstead 15 an “ACD”, or “Adjournment on Contemplation of Dismissal.” This shows that the DA probably did not want to go through a trial. And, it […]

Video from Hofstra: A veteran who is for peace speaks out

This is part of a series of 12 videos at youtube concerning the arrest of 15 demonstrators, including 10 veterans for peace, who were trying to bring questions to the two candidates at the Hofstra debate. I only watched a couple of the videos. This one explained the story a little bit.

hofstra – what is fair?

hofstra-on campus wrap-up : our professor commentator is giving mccain too much of the benefit of the doubt. and when I raised an open the debates issue he was rude and factually wrong. first he said that not since anserson was a third party candidate in the debate. he forgot perot. then I mentioned cynthia […]

debate – what do these guys have against venezuela?

I get how we should stop relying on oil from the middle east. but why do we have to worry about the oil we get from venezuela? well I really know. I was just surprised the two corporate candidates were willing to act like it was obvious we have to release ourselves from the grip […]
